    If you are sure the sound is not just muted (check Kmix in start menu), go to a command line, su to root and try the following commands:

    Code:
    alsaconf
    ...detects and sets up sound card

    Code:
    alsamixer
    ...for adjusting sounds levels

    Code:
    alsactl store
    ...stores the levels you've set
