i have recently installed slackware for my project and i have no prior knowledge of it so if anyone could help me regarding gettin used to linux environment specifically slackware, i will be obliged..
plus i also need help about mpich2, where to download it ( one that would run on slackware) and how to install it and use it...

You can check the link in my signature for lots of good information on getting started with Linux.
Check the Slackware Linux Essentials online book to get a good start with Slackware. This will give instructions on installing software under Slackware, too.
Regarding finding Slackware packages, you can often find packages that aren't in the Slackware repos here. Not sure on the specific package you mentioned above.
