Pleased I'm not the only one having problems with this. Slackware 10 just sits there and won't power down no matter what. I have to reboot -n and then go into my BIOS and hit the switch. I've tried everything else I can think of, but can't switch it off any other way. Will try those alternative kernel options though.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

I reinstalled with the alternative kernel I believe it was the bare.apci and that fixed me right up. You might be able to recompile to that kernel but I had better luck reinstalling.
MikeSome people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.
