Pleased I'm not the only one having problems with this. Slackware 10 just sits there and won't power down no matter what. I have to reboot -n and then go into my BIOS and hit the switch. I've tried everything else I can think of, but can't switch it off any other way. Will try those alternative kernel options though.

I reinstalled with the alternative kernel I believe it was the bare.apci and that fixed me right up. You might be able to recompile to that kernel but I had better luck reinstalling.
