I have a samba server running slackware 12.? and it works fine under normal circumstances. However, whenever I use a virtual machine (virtual box) on a windows system the connection is horribly slow. That is to say that file transfers are horribly slow, but internet speed and browsing files is fine. If I download something from a website directly to my samba share, firefox sort of locks up but slowly downloads the file and in some cases crashes. I'm quite sure my gigabit network should transfer files faster than 20-50 KB/s.

Another oddity is when I load Neverwinter Nights 2 in windows. All the saves games and mods are in my samba share so it has to access it to boot the game. When I do boot it takes a minute or two extra to load, as if it is waiting for something until it times out. After that it works fine.
