Hi,

Got a problem that is confounding me. I have no sound in KDE apps (4.2), but sound in non-KDE apps. However, if I use kdesu to start KDE apps (such as amarok), then I have sound in those apps. So it would seem to be a matter of permissions, but I belong to all the necessary groups (including audio), and I've checked the permissions on the phonon libraries, and they seem OK (755).

Now what really seems strange is that if I log in as root and start up KDE, I don't have KDE sounds! Not even in amarok! Ca-razy!

I thought maybe my configuration files were the problem, but if I create a new user with a fresh home directory, no sound there either.

I am running the current version of Slackware, and it is up-to-date as of today.

Any ideas folks?
