BUT when i download from torrent i get like 2-4 MB/s. Browsing and ping gets very slow.
I f i run ping yahoo.com i get:

This wouldn't affect the download speed, but slow DNS resolution can happen if you have the ipv6 protocol enabled. Try blacklisting ipv6.
- 04-24-2009 #3
How do i blacklist ipv6? Should i disable it from the kernel?
10x
- 04-24-2009 #4
I don't know slackware too well, but usually there is a file at /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist or something along those lines. If it isn't there, you can also create your own file in /etc/modprobe.d. The contents of the file should read blacklist ipv6
Sometimes that alone doesn't do the trick, in which case you can add a line install ipv6 /bin/true

i did blcklist and it didnt help, so i added install ipv6 /bin/true to the blacklist file, and now i think there is slight inprovement but still very slow. Now it opens the pages somtimes very fast and most of the time still very slow.

nslookup looks up the other DNS server, so i put it in first place. That seem to speed up the connection. I'll test it a couple of days to see if it's ok.
EDIT: Everything is normal now. I just wonder why slackware prefers to use the second DNS server.
