Hello and Welcome!

Well, it's been a while since I ran Slack, but the good news is that your card is detected and you have your drivers and firmware in place.
How are you connecting to your wireless? Through Network Manager? Wicd?Jay

I am connecting to the internet with the ethernet card. If the drivers are installed correctly, I guess the problem is not knowing how to connect with the wireless card. Thanks for the response.

What I mean is, what steps have you tried in getting connected to your wireless connection.
If using a Gnome or KDE environment, have you tried setting up your card in Network Manager?
Or did you install Wicd for your settings?Jay

I am new to linux. I installed Slackware for the first time yesterday. I am not sure how to install apps, and the only app I see for connecting is wpa_gui, I have looked at it and I don't know where to start. The status says "Could not get status from wpa_supplicant" all other fields in wpa_gui are blank. When I scan no networks appear. All wpa_gui howto's I have seen show screenshot of the window with detected networks. I do not see any networks.

I'm not all that familiar with wpa_gui, although it does look helpful!
Let's try it from a command line.
Open a terminal window, and execute the following commands:
Code:iwconfig ra0 essid <Your network name> iwconfig ra0 channel <whatever channel your router is on> iwconfig ra0 dhcpcd ra0
