    Mplayer device usage

I have built an audio video manager to perform a/v record/play/cuts. It works great except that I can never tell which device number it will use. It can be different every time I boot. I looked at /proc/asound/cards but can find no correlation. That list shows I have a webcam, V8245, and Bt878 card and the order can change from boot to boot.
Can someone suggest a method to determine which device number will be needed so I don't need to guess each time I use the program?

Hope it makes a difference if the typo is corrected. It should be V8235 not 45.
