I did not update alsa this time because I've had this problem before and thought that was the issue.
    anyway here is the backtrace.

of course sound will not work, also amarok keeps crashing (closing) with no reason given I get this when starting from console.

ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
    /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.8/libgstxine.so

    Please either:
    - remove it and restart.
    - run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.

When trying to play anything in Juk I get the application Soundserver (artsd) crashed and caused a signal 11 (SIGSEGV) the same thing as knotify pretty much.

and for the backtrace on this I get
This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash.

    Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem since I updated to KDE 3.3.1 and the same with now 3.3.2.
While the sound works without problem, just trying to make a change to the sound system configuration causes a crash. In my case I wanted to reduce the suspend time. Nevertheless after restart the new setting is applied.
Can't figure out the cause myself. Some library incompatibility maybe???
