Hello all,

i'm new to the forum and I hope that someone can/will help me.

I have installed slack13.37 with no problems; I have chosen the serivces to run at start up and one of them is mySQL.

At first run everything seemed to work fine, but when I tried to execute mySQL so that I could test my database it gave me the following error msg:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
Reading and browsing around the net, I found lots of tutorial on how to overcome this problem and the best solution was offered, to many, by basicconfig.com/linuxservers/setup_configure_mysql_slackware - Setup and configure MYSQL in Slackware Linux | Linux basic configurations

After following the step-by-step tutorial I still can't successfully run mySQL in my slack13.37 box, and I was wondering if any experts out there could/would assist me by throwing some tips&hints at me.
