I'm a TOTAL newb and need help with Linux installation...
Hey everybody,
I want let you guys know that I'm almost completely oblivious to linux.
I recently installed linux (slackware 10) with the help of a friend. After everything has been installed, I get an error message stating " kernel panic : no init found, try passing init= option to kernel"
I have ABSOLUTELY no idea what this could possibly mean....Can somebody please help me get past this STEP by STEP, seeing how completely ignorant I am with linux.
thanks,
manicotti

This generally has to do with invalid mount points in your bootloader i think..
A quick google search MOD EDIT - USE THE URL TAGS SO LINKS DON'T MAKE THE PAGE SCROLL HORIZONTALLY
turned up the following:
http://www.issociate.de/board/post/1...nit_found.html
so you can try and boot into safe mode, edit your lilo or if you are using grub you can do it on the fly i think. make sure your mount point is set properly.
hope this helps!
