    8.1 is kind of old so you may want to see if you can find a friend with a fast network connection. If not, you can purchase version 10.0 (2 CDs) for a minimum fee... Look at http://www.distrowatch.com/ for a site.

    just installed slack 10

    got internet, samba file sharing, printing working nice, heading to java and flash, maybe open office

    trying to make a resource workstation

    Remeber that you can always upgrade online from 8.1 to 10 using the program swaret. But be careful, if you do not follow the documentation carefully you will end up screwing up your system
