The standard package tools don't download anything. Slackware doesn't come standard with a package manager that is able to do that. However, there are a few tools which can take care of the job:
    - slackpkg
    - slapt-get
    - swaret
    - etc.
I would advice you to use one that comes in the /extra dir of Slackware. I don't use any other package manager then pkgtool (pkgtool, installpkg, upgradepkg, removepkg) . There are backsides using an automated solution, there are advantages as well. I choose not to use automated tools, I update manually.
    I\'m so tired .....

I tried Slack once but didn't have the patience for compiling. Otherwise I liked it. When I was using it, there was talk of a "Slack-Pack" manager. Anything to that?

Is there a synaptic front end? If so, let me guess... Slack-naptic?
