    virt-manager Python import issue

    Maybe I should have posted this in the programming forum, but I'm on a Slackware variant, so I thought this might be more appropriate. I'm trying to get qemu-kvm with virt-manager working on Porteus Linux (based on Slackware). I'm pretty sure that qemu-kvm is working, but when I try to start virt-manager, I get the following:

    Traceback (most recent call last):
      File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virt-manager", line 29, in <module>
        import gi
      File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/gi/", line 24, in <module>
        from pkgutil import extend_path
    ImportError: cannot import name extend_path
    I'm definitely a Python noob, so any Googling I've done hasn't really helped me solve this. I also posted on the Porteus forums:
    Porteus - View topic - [solved] installing qemu on Porteus (missing lib')?

    Thanks for any help you can provide!

    Have you solved the issue yet?

    Yes, actually. Porteus libraries are slimmed down when packaged for release, so reinstalling the libraries from the repositories did the trick. I never could get everything to work right, though. Spice support isn't functional in this distro's kernel, so I'm limited to VNC. That's not a huge deal, but it makes doing things like USB redirection a pain.

    Were you needing help, or were you just going through unanswered threads?
