Alsamixer no elems forgot how to sort it out...
Right.
I got way toooo cocky when trying to compile a new distro and for me been a relative n00b it was easier to reinstall, especially since i have only been using slack for a week so i didnt loose too much. Besides i did the install without needing a readme this time which can only be a good thing.
Im looking for a thread which showed me the way to deal with this problem. (hope this makes sense...) I had to move the something to do with a modem to the hotplug blacklist as it was the sound card 0 and my soundcard was 1 (sense?) and this sorted the problem out.
Does anyone know how to do this or have a link? I have been looking for ags through google but cant find the thread again.
Thanks

Sorry, should have added some detail. I found this
Which is exactly what i did but i cant remember how to do it.According to the bug report from alsa-project.org (bug id 0000245), hotplug
is automatically loading the snd-intel8x0m (modem) module. After adding
this module to /etc/hotplug/blacklist, alsamixer and the sound is working
just fine.
Do i just add "snd-intel8x0m" to etc/hotplug/blacklist ??
Thanks
