    in KDE you can go into the printer setup and work with cups it also depends on the printer. HP seems to have the most support i believe.

    Start the CUPS daemon (/etc/rc.d/rc.cups start IIRC) and point your browser to localhost:731.
    www.linuxprinting.org was very helpfull for me to setup a printer.
