What is my darkstar login?
Hi everyone,
I'm a n00b here. Last night I installed Slackware 10.1 on a Dell OptiPlex (now with MMX!!! :P) but when the machine is booting it is asking for my "darkstar login: and password. But while going through setup I never set a login name... So how do I get into my machine?
I did the full install, and will use the KDE desktop.
please help me!

I assume "darkstar" is the name you chose for your computer?
use username "root" and whatever password you chose for the root user
then, use the "adduser" command to create an account for yourself

Slackware sets "darkstar" as name of the computer if you don't specify something else during the installation. To login just type root and your password. If you don't like the name darkstar you can change it in /etc/HOSTNAME.

also if its still darkstar you maybe should run the netconfig command to setup your machines networking, that gives you the options of domain and dns name as well as the option of setting up dhcp, etc.
