Hi there.

I'm trying to install SASL-2.1.19 onto a fresh slackware linux installation with no apache, sendmail or openssl installed yet, just openssl shared libraries
that are required by Slackware setup to run stuff like ssh .

I install Perl 8.11 then Openssl 0.9.7g, then Cyrus-sasl (the make failing because there is no berkeley db installed) so I install berkeley db,
then run Cyrus-sasl installation, then run saslauthd -a shadow -V, then try an saslpasswd2 and it comes back with generic error.

/var/log/messages:
Apr 24 20:02:51 krynn saslauthd[23040]: detach_tty : master pid is: 23040
Apr 24 20:02:51 krynn saslauthd[23040]: ipc_init : listening on socket: /var/state/saslauthd/mux
Apr 24 20:03:00 krynn saslpasswd2: Error putting OTP secret
Apr 24 20:03:32 krynn saslpasswd2: Error putting OTP secret

/var/log/syslog:
Apr 24 20:03:32 krynn saslpasswd2: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: Invalid argument
Apr 24 20:03:32 krynn saslpasswd2: setpass failed for testusers: generic failure
Apr 24 20:03:32 krynn saslpasswd2: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: Invalid argument
Apr 24 20:03:32 krynn saslpasswd2: OTP: failed to set secret for testusers: generic failure (No such file or directory)

I'm somewhat confused.

Anyone got any ideas please?

The screen capture of the process is listed below (with the make routines of perl, openssl and berkeley cut out for space).

If the full capture would be helpful, I can stick it on a website for your perusal?

Thanks very much for any help you can provide, this is driving me insane.

Daryn

Libraries have been installed in:
/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.3/lib

If you ever happen to want to link against installed libraries
in a given directory, LIBDIR, you must either use libtool, and
specify the full pathname of the library, or use the `-LLIBDIR'
flag during linking and do at least one of the following:
- add LIBDIR to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variable
during execution
- add LIBDIR to the `LD_RUN_PATH' environment variable
during linking
- use the `-Wl,--rpath -Wl,LIBDIR' linker flag
- have your system administrator add LIBDIR to `/etc/ld.so.conf'

See any operating system documentation about shared libraries for
more information, such as the ld(1) and ld.so( manual pages.
