    Just google "ntfsresize-x.x.x Slackware Pacakge" or something like that. OR compile it from source.

    I renamed ntfsprogs-1.11.1.tar.gz to ntfsprogs-1.11.1.tgz would it work

    No. I'm going to put this as simply as possible:
    If you use the .tar.gz package, you'll need to compile from source.
