    Soundcore

    Is soundcore not neccessary in 2.6.12.4? I do not see it as an option in my menuconfig, and it certainly doesn't load by itself because lsmod doesn't diplay it. I get that damned snd_ctl_open error. I have tried using alsa 1.0.8 that comes with the kernel and I have compiled it without alsa support and installed alsa 1.0.9 myself. Both ways alsa finds my cards but when I open alsamixer I keep getting that ctl_open error, and alsactl store says no cards found. I think it has to do with soundcore module missing. *help*
