just installed slackware 10.1.
i tried playing 2 dvds using totem and xine and nothing works.
just for the record, i did mount the dvds before i tried playing them....

why wont <any movie player> play dvd's?

You'll probably need to install libdvdcss, libdvdnav, and libdvdread if you haven't done so already. Look to linuxpackages.net for those packages.
