Installing printers on Slack
Hi All
I'm having problems installing a printer on Slackware 10.1. I want to use my slack box as a print server.
The printer is a Brother HL-820 (fairly old b/w laser printer) and isn't on the list when adding a new printer from within KDE.
The brother website does not appear to offer any drivers for this printer for Linux systems: http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/info/printer/hl820.html
I did find this: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/s...s_drivers.html
But it just offers solutions for rpm based distros and Debian.
Is there anything I can do?Registered Linux user #389109

Go to LinuxPrinting.org and click on the "download PPD" link to download the driver for your printer:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...Brother-HL-820
Move the driver to the /usr/share/cups/model directory, then restart CUPS, and then open localhost:631 in your browser to setup the printer.

Check if a ghostscript/postscript file (.PPD) is available for your printer, on linuxprinting.org.
Also, have you opened http://localhost:631? There you can install your printer.** Registered Linux User # 393717 and proud of it
