    Nvidia install


    When I'm trying to install nvidia like the way you should (I have readed the readme.txt and done everything like they write there). When I am trying to startx it goes black and goes back to the place I startx:t from...

    your vertical and horizontal syncs in the monitor section of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf are out of range, use the correct values and you'll be good, you can either find them on the tag on the back of your monitor or in an online manual...note, you can also save a backup of your xorg.conf and redo a conf with xorgcfg, which usually gets it working correctly...copy that file to another location, copy your old on back to the original and look in the new one that you copied to another location to see what detected vert and horizontal syncs were detected and manually add them into your xorg.conf...
