hangs on activating hardware...
Hi,
I have Slackware 10.2 installed on an old Dell CPi laptop. The install
went without problems. I booted up first time good, I was able to run
KDE, but switched to WindowMaker due to the resource deficiency of the
laptop (4Mb of video RAM).
During the install I set the hotplug to start automatically upon the
startup. I inserted PCI network card in a slot and pressed power
button. The startup went up to the point where it said:
Starting PCMCIA services:
<Probing...>
cardmgr[74]: watching 2 sockets
and than stalled. I didn't get any messages. I held the power button to
shut the machine, and removed the card. Started again, it went to the
same line, then gave me:
Activating hardware detection: /etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug start
and then stalled again.
Help Please.
Alex
