Ethernet card problems.
I'm having trouble connecting to any web sites via my slackware 10.1 box (does the same thing in 10.2). I've set a static ip (all correct) and can ping just about any ip address that I want to (I've gotten a ping from my router, another computer in the network, and my own. Plus a dns from a forum that I frequent), so the only thing that I think it could be is that it's just not recognizing domain names...
Any help would be much appreciated.

Not sure if this will sove your problem, but whenever I encounter what you describe I have the router reset back to its factory settings and reconfigure it.

did you add
"search domain.com"
to the top of /etc/resolv.conf
?

Yes, as u are describing ur problem u seem to have a problem with the dns. Check ur dns server in /etc/resolv.conf e.g.:
