Does the latest nVidia driver support 2.6.15??

seems you didn't build the nvidia drivers properly

I think you should recompile your kernel with nvidia support.
Forgive me if I am wrong.

Did you download the headers and modules packages?

you would use 2.4 kernel headers package from slackware 10.2 (the version your glibc was compiled ON, not your kernel)
and the source/modules will be from the source tarball for 2.6.15 from kernel.org or somewhere similar.
did the installation actually finish?
did you check /var/log/nvidia*.log?
