Hello everyone!
OK, I bought an old machine for $6.88 on America's Thrift Store, and I want to install Slax Linux (Kill Bill edition, version 5.0.6) on it...
Since it's CD drive doesn't support booting, I grabbed a Win98 disk (no ramdrive) and put all the files in /boot/dos from the Slax CD... After a few seconds of loading, it stops with this message:

VFS: Cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(8,3)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,3)

I tried many things for root=, including /dev/hdc (CD-ROM drive), /dev/ram0, and /dev/fd0, but none worked!

I also tried it on Virtual PC, did the exact same process, and got the exact same output - with the same numbers (8,3) and everything...

Why is this? Anyone know? Thanks!
