Slackware 10.0 to 10.2 upgrade network problem

I recently upgraded from Slackware 10.0 to 10.2. 10.0 had been running fine. After the upgrade in had no internet access. After a lot of wheel spining I tracked it down to not having a default route. Turns out the rc.inet1.conf file was not executable. Changed that and now get no boot errors now but no network either. After booting there is no default route. If I su - to root and manually execute
. /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf followed by . /etc/rc.d/inet1 then I have my default route and networking works fine. It just does not execute at boot time. Cannot find errors in syslog or anywhere else. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

after upgrading did you find and merge the ".new" files into your configs?

there sounds like theres something wrong with your init scripts layout, as you dont even need /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf executable at all on a proper install.

I'd advise to check for any .new files lying around

find / -name *.new

then merge those into your own configs where applicable

can you do a

ls -lh /etc/rc.d

and show us the output too?

Thanks, yes I merged all the local changes into the .new files then changed the running files to .old and copied the .new files to the runnign files. Here is the ls -lh

to start with I'd delete all the .new and .old files

you shouldn't have any .new's after you merge them into the real files
