    No Sound on Slackware 10.2

    My sound card is a SigmaTel STAC9752,53. It seems like Linux is recognizing it, because when I open alsamixer it says Chip: SigmaTel STAC9752,53. However, I'm not getting any sound and when I run alsaconf it says no supported PnP or PCI card was found. I'm on Slackware 10.2 with kernel 2.6.15.5, built by myself. I have "Sound card report" compiled into the kernel.

    Any idea whats wrong? Thanks.

    If you built the soundcard into the kernel alsaconf will not load the module (cuz its not a module) seeing that alsamixer recognized your card, you should probably adjust the levels and unmute them and run alsactl store.

    just try unmuting with alsamixer

    When I go to alsamixer there are a lot of bars, like Line, CD, Aux, etc., etc. Which one do I have to increase, if it's a built-in laptop speaker? Thanks.

    master and pcm should be all you need to increase and unmute

    increase them to 90 something and hit "m" to toggle mute/unmute
