    Smile alsaconf

    I had simular difficulties on my Slack 10.1 Inspriron 5100 installation. I first messed with the 'alsaconf' and then slowly experimented with the differnet sound server settings. It looks to be working the best with the aRts plugin.
    If you are having further throuble I will look at my docs to see what I originally did.

    thanks a bunch ill try that i have linux installed on a old dell desktop originally had windows 98 im having a hard time getting my internet going but ill tinker with a few more things on it and read alot more

    Alsa is muted by default. You have to run alsaconf, unmute, and run alsactl store as root to save the changes.
