They are pretty much alike, really. I'd suggest trying both and deciding which one feels right for you. I've used both and either one works well.

I don't believe so. There's also slackpkg. I've used all three and found that one to be the best one. Patrick even put it in one of the extra CDs. It's easy to use.

There is a KDE Front end to slapt-get. It comes preinstalled on my Vector Linux.. but you can get it from their repos... it's called Gslapt
