ati driver help needed

celeron 1.8, 1g ram, ati 9800 video card.

current slack 10.2
kde 3.5.3
kernel 2.6.16.22 (sweeet)
dsl connection/lan works great...

just playing around with slack, downloading this and that, seeing what it can do and i run into this (see attached) after installing the ati driver. as far as i can see, the driver works. i have good screen res, as opposed to the limping opengl (where the google earth worked, albeit SLOOOOOWly)
any pointers on aticonfig?
