i cannot see anything on my cdrom under root console.
i have no problem reading cdrom under kde.
any ideas???

are you mounting it in the console? KDE uses its own mounting method I think/expect
Code:mount /mnt/cdrom ls /mnt/cdrom

re
on a previous install of slackware 10.2 was no problem. cdrom was mounted as default under console. know how to make it permanent?

I doubt it was mounted all the time
you want to find out your cdrom device (dmesg | grep hd), then edit your /etc/fstab to use that device instead of the wrong device it is using now.

re
for no reason it's working again. without starting kde. without mount commnand. it's really weird.
