do you have the kernel source for 2.6.10 installed in /usr/src ?
maybe the build symlink in /lib/modules/2.6.10 is broken
why are you using 2.6.10 anyway and not 2.6.18?

Hi Dear Kern,
very thanks for your quick reply
I have searched modversions.h in source of kernel,but wasn't .
I compiled the kernel again, but not be solved the problem.
is the problem related to missconfiguring in kernel?? and I must compile the kernel again with correct configuring?
— because I have low speed connection (dial up),downloading a new version of kernel is hard,so I am trying that use this kernel. o.k!?
thanks for any help and guide.

I just use the kernel packages that come with slackware, if you want to compile against kernel source use the kernel source package.
I'm not familiar with hsfmodem so I can't help you there.
