Okay so i'm going to do a complete re-install - but one thing I would like to know if you can help is where on the CD is the 2.4.31 kernel I could only find 2.4.26. And which image file should I use to boot with ( hope this don't sound to lame )

Why don't you just get slackware 11.0 with a newer kernel? before you reinstall?

yeah I think that's probably the best bet I just startted the reistall anfd i noticed something i missed at the begining - command 'Network' to probe at the start of the install - it found the card ok - so i might try this one more time and if still having probs then get the 11 version.

Thanks- let you know how i got on..
