mplayer won't stretch the image in fullscreen there just black area around the video.
is there a simple solution to get mplayer to do this (zoom doesn't work)....

I have the same issue on a Gentoo box, it's not a huge priority for me at this point but it'd be nice to know how to fix it.

I've discovered it is a problem with the -vo option, gl (not gl2) usually works for me (try some more like x11, xv, etc), disabling double buffering helped too

Ah I c that's what I figured but on my sparc I think anything other than I think it's xv or whatever -vo is set to now, will work.
