Hey there guys.
I am attempting to run samba. I installed the .tgz file with installpkg and it went fine. I then configured smb.conf and did the testparm thing successfully. I then typed /etc/rc.d/rc.samba start, and apparently everything was setup just fine. Now, when i go the other machine, running windows, i can see the shared directory, but it displays the following error message: 'the network name cannot be found'. What am i missing? I can ping each machine, but i can't get into the folder.

I'd suggest trying to find a sample smb.conf file on the web that is known to work and try to use it. I'd bet the problem is in your configuration on your slackbox. Perhaps even try with some VERY simple share first and then once it works, move on to more of what you want it to look like.
