This is an old Pentium-MMX 188 MHz system with 64 MB of ram. I'm using 2 cf cards in place of hard drives via cf-ide adapters. I am currently using kernel 2.4.20 with support for auto dma not compiled in. I don't have any issues until I shutdown. I then get a dma timeout when the swap partition gets turned off. It doesn't appear to be causing major problem and the delay caused y the timeout is short but I figure it would be a good idea to find the cause and fix it.
