    Hi,

Can you tell from where you download the gnome package,it's a source code of precompiled or compiled version ?

and also wish version of Slackware you are using ?
about the firefox how did you manage to compile it ?

please provide me more information to help you.

download slackware packages from linuxpackages.net and install with this command
    installpkg pkg.tgz

I have posted links in your other thread, which will clear all your doubts.

    kde is good enough

I wish I could help but I have never done it before.

The instructions are clearly mentioned here.
    http://gsb.freerock.org/installation/#iso
and then these steps to start
    http://gsb.freerock.org/faqs/

You can try other distro's which have gnome.
