ext3_abort called
I recently took my HD out to format another one, and when i put mine abck in, it would not recognize the OS. i thought maybe i wiped the wrong one. i checked with gparted. its still there, thank god. i restarted to lilo and all was good until i was about to put in my username, it gave me this error (before i actually typed anything)
Code:
Linux_Box login: ext3_abort called.
EXT3-fs error (dvice hdb1): ext3_journal_start_sb: Detected aborted journal
Remounting filesystem read-only
EXT3-fs error (device hdb1): ext3_find_entry: reading directory #933911 offset 0
so i had no idea what to do. i tried logging in as root i get this:
Code:
Welcome to Linux 2.6.21.5-smp (tty1)
Linux_Box login:
this is normal, however when i input root as the user it waits for a second (as if sarching) then without giving me a error message it goes straight back to Code:
Welcome to Linux 2.6.21.5-smp (tty1)
Linux_Box login:
I tried logging in as stinkoman, same problem.
then i tried ctrl +alt+del I got this message:
Code:
INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/shutdown"
So i am extremely confused as to whats happening and why things wont work and what to do about them!
can anyone help me with this strange problem?

however i just put my HD at a weird angle (standing up as opposed to laying down) and it is working fine! I will try to lay it back down, but I am beginning to think it has to do with my ribbon wire from motherboard to hd and cdrom
