fixing fdisk problem

Hi I made a big mistake with fdisk a couple days ago.

I used it to partition a hardrive with datat on a partition
that I wanted to keep. But fdisk did a little more than I
asked it to and unformatted a partition that I didnt ask
it to unformat. I cant access it with windows without it
asking me to format the drive and I can't mount it.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem and are
there any free bootable linux versions that I could use
to do it with because Im not sure if the one I downloaded
will have the tools you tell me to use to fix this.

Try useing 'testdisk'. Use google to find its home site and read its How-To before you use it.
You will need to use the 'advanced' option and check the 'boot record' for the partition.

I would down load 'pmagic', it has testdisk + other usefull programs.
