How to Install Samba into Slackware 10.1

Hi, I am a Linux newbie and decided to try out Slackare 10.1.
Did a full installation.
I want to setup samba. Although, I did a full installation, it still says that
Samba is not installed.

I have downloaded the latest samba RPM from samba.org.

How do I install the new samba into the Slackware 10.1??

Any help is very much appreciated?

if you did a full install then samba is there look in /etc/samba
if for some reason you don't have samba try and find a source instead of a rpm look for a .tgz or tar.gz file

no point using the source

use the slackware cd and installpkg *samba* or download the samba package from the slackware FTP,

then 'installpkg *samba*.tgz

setup your /etc/samba/smb.conf for your shares, use 'testparm' to check its a valid config

then start samba with /etc/rc.d/rc.samba start

if it is not executable make it so with "chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.samba"

and it will start on boot,
