LILO install problem
First Off I have had a number of problems with my new PC when it comes to Linux... I'm no Linux noob.. been using it for 9 years now.
Initial problem seemed partly due to motherboards firmware...
but I am getting off the point.
I have a 2TB hard drive.. limit of what good old fashioned MBR can handle.
Slackware 13.37 setup loaded fine.. ran cfdisk.. created the partition table.
Ran setup that ran ok... but when it got to
"Installing Linux Loader" it would just hang on that screen until I press enter and then it would continue on with the next setup otion..
But it appears to not install LILO at all...
As using less to view /dev/sdb shows no signs of LILO and I ran lilo -M /dev/sdb which did seem to partly work... but when I rebooted and set the 2nd hard disk to boot it wouldn't boot and PC just asked for a bootable media.
lilo.conf seems to be fine...
Does it have uefi enabled and if so can you disable it in the bios?
It's a pure UEFI board it has no old fashioned BIOS option.
I did have old an old hard disk with LILO on it and I tried that and the PC booted that up fine and slackware loaded.
I suppose I could try and install slackware on the PC then connect the hard disk to another pc and install LILO via that... but rather see if there is a less messy solution first.
Or install the approved proprietary operating system like a good little drone
Well I have no idea what happened... but after the 14th time of reinstalling LILO... it finally worked... didn't do anything...
boots fine now.. although getting a black screen when starting X but probably need to download the nvidia driver...
