Lilo + Linux 1 on /dev/sda5 & Linux 2 on /dev/sdb6
Hi guys, I've got a strange problem (maybe it's not so strange but this is the first time I try to boot a kernel that's on another partition...
My situation is the following. I've got two Minislack versions
- one is on sda5
- one is on sdb6
Lilo is installed in the MBR. Now, since sda5 is the oldest distro, the lilo config from that file is used. I've edited the lilo.conf, and it keeps complaining it couldn't find the kernel from sdv6. I mounted the partition, then it said it couldn't add it because there were too many levels... (I mounted it on /mnt/sdb6/, so the path was /mnt/sdb6/boot/vmlinuz-184.108.40.206ata). Then I rerun /sbin/lilo -v to load & check the config, another error pops up:
I found on a google groups some info, but basically it was telling me to do what I already tried to do, without any success (see the 'too many symbolic links' stuff...
cannot stat `/mnt/sdb6/boot/vmlinuz-220.127.116.11ata' too many symbolic links
Can anyone help me out here?
I would like a solution without having to create a separate /boot partition, that should be possible.
