making a bootable cd for 10 installation

ok, it is funny cause i have done this kind of thing before but now its not working. i am attempting to install slackware 10 on a machine that is currently running xp, but i can get the install to boot from the cd (or off floppies either). all that i would ideally want to do is make the iso bootable, so that all i need to do is throw the disc in, push the power button and start the install process. umm....does anyone know how to do that? right now if i try to install off the boot disk and the root disks on floppy my computer just yells at me and for some reason it makes my keyboard lights flash. thanks jack

The install iso is bootable. check your bios settings for bootsequence, you'll probably have your harddisk as first boot device. :)

it's not my boot order, it goes floppy, cd, hd.

Then there is the possibility your iso is not good. Or you did not burn it the right way. So check the checksum of your iso. You could use the info on http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/howtoburn.html to learn howto burn an ISO and verify it (not perse in that order) .

some of the older cd-roms were not bootable.

I believe that 10 was for sure, but it sounds to me like either his might be mistaken about the boot sequence in the bios or he has a corrupt cd.

If you burn your own ISO's burn them on a slow speed.

yep, just because you cd-burner is 52x doesn't mean your cdrs are 52x.

hey guys, i dont know if it was a bunk cd or if my mac was burning funky, but it worked. thanks for all the help.
