Hi guys, Im in need of some help. I just installed slackware 12, and I skipped the network setup. Can some one please explain to me how i can set it up now? I have a wired connection. I go to the network setting/etc. I select what the similar OS for the network settings is, I choose kubuntu or w/e it could be. But when i setup my static ip, I click to enable it but then it disables itself. It auto disables every time even if its not static but auto dhcp. Meaning there is no connection. Not sure what to do? Maybe there is some kind of terminal command/setup i need to do? Any help would be great :).
Welcome to the forums, grimo!
Go to the command line and su to root, then enter: netconfig
Let us know if that works.
you probably need to load the proper driver if you skipped the setup, depending on your card its probably already built into the kernel, but we'd need to know your ethernet card to help you load the right module.
ozar = fast
Thank you ozar, that did the trick. YAY!
Glad you are up and running!
