I built a new computer about a month ago and am trying to install slackware 10.1 on it. My motherboard is a Asus P5GD1 motherboard with the 915P chipset. It has a ITE 8212F RAID controller with 1 maxtor 250gig IDE HDD connected to it. Windows detects the HDD as a SCSI disk drive.
I have the HDD partitioned with a linux partition on it after the windows partition.
When installing Slackware 10.1 using any of the boot kernels provided with the install CD, I am having problems getting slackware to see my HDD. /dev/hda1 points to my dvd writer, /dev/hda2 points to my cdwriter. /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2 points to the 2 partitions on my external usb mass storage device. I need some advice on getting slackware to see my maxtor HDD, and what the /dev/?? should be.
