Hey,
I am trying to install Slackware 10.2 via CD, and it is not picking up my hdd nor any of the partitions on it - the only partition is /dev/hda and it id the CDROM.
I have a Laptop - IBM ThinkPad R60.. anyone know of a possible cause for this?

What did you use after the boot from The Slackware CD.
I tried:
bare.i
sata.i - Sata finds things - asks me which windows partitions to add to fstab, but then wont go any further
Yes sure,that's because you don't have a allocated Linux drive,you have only swap allocated partition and this is not enough, another question before doing the allocation ,you have 1000MB for Swap and 700 MB unallocated and a E drive with 4GB,What do you to do exactly,1000 MB for swap are too much (you should have half of your memory for example if you have 512 RAM so it's enough to have 256 Swap space). and 700MB for a linux partition is not enough,do you want to use the E partition or What,so please tell me to proceed.

OK I see what you saying there..
Ok at the moment I have this on the partitions - I just removed all that and left it at:
IBM_Service - NTFS
CapeTownAlive - NTFS
and 6gb of unallocated space
If I boot into the sata.i setup, what must I do in the fdisk there to create the slack partition and then the swap?
Help would be much appreciated, im a bit stuck with laptops..

Ok when you boot your Slack DVD, do the following
fdisk /dev/hda ( probably it's /dev/sda in you case you can check by typing fdisk only)
type m for help. and then create two partitions by typing n.
each time you create a partition it'll ask you the first cylinder and the last one each cylinder equal 8.2MB~,so create two partitions like this,
after you should assign the partitions system id,type t and it'll ask you about wish partition enter the partition number and after 82 for swap or 83 for Linux partition.
careful: at any time you can see the order of your partition by typing p ex:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 5222 41945683+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda2 5223 5288 530145 5 Extended
/dev/hda3 5289 6001 5727172+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda4 * 6002 7296 10402087+ c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
so numer 1 is the first and so on.
after all that write the configuration to the disk by typing w,
and do setup to start your Slack setup.

You can also use partition magic to create 2 partitions before starting the installation.
Create 2 partitions :
1 for swap partition and other for root (/) partition.
During setup, mount the root partition as "/"
