Slackware rocks! But I have a small problem... :-/
...as my Dell OEM DVD/CD-RW isn't recognized at all. :( What I could find out about it (back in the Winbloze days) is that its number (or "name") is HL-DT-ST GCC-4480B 16x48x40x DVD/CD-RW. Before Linux was installed it was recognized by XP as an "E:" drive, with "D:" being my regular read-only CD-ROM.
It's installed on a standard Dell Dimension 8300, i875 motherboard (Dell propietary crap), Intel Pentium 4C 2.6GHz, 512MB RAM, ATI (!) Radeon 9800 Pro, and Audigy SoundBlaster 2. O.S. is Slackware of course with the 2.4 stock Kernel. I'm a complete n00b to Linux, and I'm open to any and all suggestions. ;)
Overall I'm very glad to have installed Slackware though, after many, many years on M$ Winbloze (since the 3.1 days), I knew that this year it was definitely over. No more false promises by Redmond. They can keep their stinking LongWait to themselves. :)
