Weird sound/Xorg problem
I had a problem in slack 10 with getting alsa to work, it didn't, so I d/l'd slack 10.1 and thought that my problem would be gone. Wrong.
When I run alsaconf and set up my sound card, everything works. That is until I restart the computer. When startup gets to the point of starting X to run the login manager, everything stops working. I then need to login at the console level and remove all text from /etc/modules.conf and restart the computer to get X to work again.
Could somebody please shed some light on my problem?
I am using the default Slack10.1 kernel (2.4.29 I think)
My sound card is an onboard cs4232 Crystal Codec
My motherboard serial number is P61440LX/AV, the manufacturer is a mystery to me
It has a Pentium II CPU
PS: I will post whatever output or text files that are needed
you may need to save your new settings with "alsactl store" before you try to restart your comp after you adjust your alsa settings.
Alright then, I'll give that a try
Well hot damn Genesus, it worked. I had a hunch that the onboard sound didn't agree with something, so I put in an old card that I tried earlier that got similar results and did "alsactl store" restarted and it worked. I've been asking this same question on linuxquestions and it never got me anywhere.
Thanks so much.
no prob man, hope you enjoy slack!
